DORA FAQs
Common questions about DORA compliance for vendors
DORA requires financial entities to manage ICT third-party risk, keep a register of their ICT contracts and include specific terms in those contracts. That's why vendors receive DORA questionnaires and contract addendums. We help you answer them accurately and back your answers with evidence.
DORA applies directly to EU financial entities, including banks, payment and e-money institutions, investment firms, crypto-asset service providers and insurers. ICT vendors feel it through their contracts with those entities, and providers designated as critical face direct EU oversight.
DORA is built on five areas: ICT risk management, ICT-related incident management and reporting, digital operational resilience testing, ICT third-party risk management and information sharing on cyber threats. Detailed rules sit in regulatory and implementing technical standards issued under the regulation.
Financial entities must report major ICT-related incidents to their regulator, with an initial notification due within 4 hours of classifying an incident as major and within 24 hours of becoming aware of it. That depends on fast, clear notice from ICT vendors, so we build it into your incident process.
No. DORA has no certification. Financial entities are supervised by their competent authorities, and vendors show readiness through due diligence responses, contract terms and evidence. Frameworks like ISO 27001 and SOC 2 can support many of those requests without starting from scratch.
